Head to Vermont for skiing and riding this winter, and take advantage of lift ticket discounts and reduced prices on lodgings. Learn to ski or ride for free.
When it comes to classic winter ski vacations, Vermont is at the top of the (snowy) heap. The Green Mountains offer some of the best skiing in the East, with slopeside lodgings that range from cozy inns to luxurious condos, warmed by fireplaces galore. There's usually some lively nightlife close by, and a quaint Vermont village to explore. With the economy still as wobbly as a toddler on a bunny slope, Vermont ski resorts are offering some good deals to get skiers onto the mountains. Some of these are early-season ski deals, so act quickly.

Early-Bird Special at Sugarbush: Book by Dec. 15 and get 30 percent off midweek lodgings at Clay Brook, the Sugarbush Inn, and Sugarbush Resort Condos. The rate includes access to the Sugarbush Health and Racquet Club, in case those tired ski muscles could use a soak in the hot tub. A two-night minimum stay is required (three nights during holiday periods), and some nights are excluded. This deal is only available by phone, at 800-53-SUGAR. To sweeten this up, kids age 6 and under always ski and ride for free at Sugarbush.
Holiday Lodging Deal at Bromley: Book a five-night or longer stay at a Bromley Village slopeside home or condo during the holidays and get a 15 percent discount on lodgings, plus discounted lift tickets. The offer is good from Dec. 26, 2009 to Jan. 3, 2010. Bromley also offers the Sun Mountain Club Card, best for skiers who love the resort but can't justify a season pass. The $69 card comes loaded with one free day of skiing, plus $10 off every all-day lift ticket, including weekends and holidays.
With its classic charm, Vermont is a favorite destination for skiers and riders. This season's discounts on lift tickets and lodgings make the Green Mountain State a viable choice for a budget ski vacation.
