Skiing is one of the best things about winter. Beautiful snow capped mountains, hot chocolates and lots of fun.

Mt Baw Baw is a two and a half hour drive from the central business district (CBD) of Melbourne, Australia. It boasts an integrated trail system with approximately 30 hectares of downhill slopes and 10 km of cross country trails.

An Overview of Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort

Mt Baw Baw is the smallest ski mountain and resort in Victoria but if offers runs for beginner skiers as well as more challenging runs, suitable for both skiers and snowboarders. It has seven lifts but these are the Poma and T-Bar lifts, not traditional lifts that take skiers off the ground, so it is a perfect ski resort for small children or anyone scared of heights. Also, being a smaller mountain, lift prices are close to half the cost of some of the other larger ski resorts.

Mt Baw Baw offers hire of ski equipment and ski clothes, however, during busy periods, skiers will have long waits while everyone is fitted properly. A better option is to hire clothes and equipment at one of the many snow and sporting stores in Melbourne, or along the way before reaching the mountain. Like any ski resort, Mt Baw Baw offers accommodation, restaurants, kiosks, ski lessons and snowboarding lessons.
