When Do Vermont Ski Areas Open?Winter Sports Resorts Start Early For the 2008-09 Season
Early snow and cold weather means early skiing and boarding for winter sport lovers. Modern snow guns and the right temperatures open ten US resorts by Thanksgiving.
The great winter resorts of Vermont have been watching the weather and have announced their opening days for the coming winter season, 2008-2009. Ten of them will be open for business by Thanksgiving in late November, and an additional eight have announced plans to open before Christmas. Several of the ski resorts still have special prices on passes and offer packages throughout the season. Vermont’s resorts will open over the course of a month starting in mid-November with the big one, Killington. November Ski Area Opening:

Ski Area Dates Not Set, Mount Snow Road, West Dover, (800) 245 7669, Snow line (802) 464 2151 and Mad River Glen, Waitsfield, (802) 496 3551, have NOT set opening dates but will wait for the weather. A quick check of all of Vermont’s ski area conditions can be found at Ski Vermont. Mount Snow But Check The WeatherAll of these dates, of course, are subject to the vagaries of New England weather. Mount Snow should open earlier than some of the smaller areas because of its snow making potential. Mad River Glen, on the other hand, is an entirely natural ski area, natural terrain, and natural snow so we will just have to wait for that to happen.
